Palato do Côa’s story is most recent, going back to 2007, but it is supported by the winemaker who has more than 25 years of experience in winemaking all across the most important regions of the country.
Quinta da Saudade, located in the Douro Superior, in Muxagata, municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, was acquired in 2008 by winemaker Carlos Magalhães (aka Carloto) and five of his friends who had a common passion – wine, high-altitude vineyards and the Douro region.
Muxagata (Vila Nova de Foz Côa) is characterised by soils rich in limestone (Ph higher than 7,0) and it is set in the world’s biggest mountain production region – the Douro.
